Good morning, Thanks to Tom Rushforth’s wonderful stewardship letter, I know that our congregation is well aware of the theme for this year’s stewardship campaign, “Experience The Joy Of Giving: Become Personally Involved!”

Giving of your treasure is one way to experience the joy of giving, but have you become personally involved?

Have you experienced the joy from giving of your time and talent?  Here at First Congregational Church we have the opportunity to become personally involved in many ways.

What better way to give of your time and talent than by joining a team that is part of the new framework for Ministry & Mission?  Have you been fortunate enough to mentor a young Confirmand?  Or fortunate enough to have taught Sunday Church School, presented a Children’s Message or shared your musical gifts with the congregation?  Perhaps you have knitted a prayer shawl or broke bread with our Second Sunday guests?  Maybe you have greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly handshake as we enter the Church on Sunday morning?  Maybe you have worked tirelessly behind the scenes making repairs to keep our church, parsonage and grounds safe.  Have you volunteered at Pumpkin Patch?  If you have, then I don’t have to tell you of the fun, laughs and camaraderie out on the lawn but if you have not had the opportunity, it’s a great way to get your feet wet in becoming personally involved.

I have just mentioned a few ways of becoming personally involved and guess what?  It’s fun!  It’s rewarding!  As Tom stated in his letter, we are a team, you are a valuable member of the team.  On Stewardship Commitment Sunday, November 13th, I ask that as you consider your pledge, I also ask that you consider giving of your time and talent to fully experience the joy of giving by becoming personally involved.

“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, ‘There is more joy in giving than in receiving.’”  (Acts 20:35) Thank you.
